3. Doug Hyde
Doug Hyde's explosion into the UK art scene has been quite extraordinary, and we are very excited to be offering you this young artists work. Most of the art he produces is on a large scale, in order to achieve maximum impact.

His medium is that of pastels and is applied with his hands. The inspiration behind his work derives mainly from his own emotional responses to life, his intention is to provoke an emotional response in others; his success in this aim can be seen by the huge impact his newly released collection has made on the British art scene.

4. Govinder Nazran
"I call it the art of finger painting. Using oil bars directly onto canvas, I manipulate the paint with my fingers using no brushes. I take influence from many places including interior design, cubism, abstraction, the macabre surrealism of Bosch and many more great masters."

5. Sarah Jane Szikora
Sarah Jane Szikora spent much of her childhood drawing. Surrounded by 11 brothers and sisters, she also made frequent trips abroad to her father's native Hungary, encountering for the first time the larger-than-life women who appear in her paintings today.

6. Paul Horton
We are pleased to bring to you work from artist Paul Horton. The inspiration behind his quirky paintings derives from studying places, people and events. He then combines these topics with his fascination of theatrical back drops and puppetry.

Since Paul's work has been placed in Keens gallery it has provocked a lot of attention. Adults find his work fun and kids love the colours. Good Christmas present for family or friend!

7. Rolf Harris
Rolf came to England to study art in the fifties. During this time he met the Impressionist painter Hayward Veal. His influence was profound: he provided Rolf with the ammunition and knowledge to produce huge paintings in the sixties and seventies, which became his signature.

His approach to art is prodominatley impressionistic: He starts by painting the whole canvas as a blur, as though his eyes are de-focused and half closed, and then refines it to the degree he is saticfied with.

8. Tim Bulmer
When asked to describe his artistic style, Tim points the same ruthless spotlight at himself as he does at his subjects, saying simply that “…a wry observation of life and an unwillingness to take anything seriously” more or less sums up his work, typically forgetting to mention the imagination and artistry that characterises each of his images.

Tim’s overwhelming rise in popularity was reflected when he scooped the Fine Art Trade Guild’s Best Selling Original Print Artist award in May 2001.

9. Peter Smith
Born in the small town of Mansfield, Nottinghamshire Peter Smith bypassed the well trodden route to the local industries and followed the somewhat unusual lifestyle of artist. Along the way he became a surveyor, a computer programmer and eventually a graphic artist within the fashion industry, a job he enjoyed for 16 happy years. His last two years have been spent increasing his presence within the art world and honing his skills to the standard you now see before you.
